| Store Rides will Resume in May. Check back then or subscribe to Email News for future updates. Riding together with a group is always fun. It makes you get out there and stay motivated, fit and happy :) That's exactly why we organize store rides every other week.
We meet at the store every other Sunday at 8:30 am. Every type of rider and bicycle are welcome. We have two group leaders to manage two groups of faster and slower riders. No excuses now, we hope to see you on the next ride!
When is the next BAB Store ride taking place? What kind of rides do you do?
We ride every other Sunday unless it is rainy. We meet at the store at 8:30am (free coffee for punctual people :) and we leave at 9:00 am sharp. Rides usually take 3h.
We ride every other Sunday for about 3 hours roundtrip. Rides take place on pavement and destinations are picked the day of the ride. We do leisure rides like the Bay Trail and harder rides like Grizzly Peak in Berkeley. We decide on destinations together, depending on what type of riders show up, splitting in two groups of faster and slowers riders when necessary.
Don't be intimidated, it's all about having fun riding our bikes and getting some fresh air. Give us a call if you have any questions, we'll love to ride along your side on the next ride! Coming Sundays we are riding: 8/14 - 8/28 - 9/11 - 9/25 - 10/9 - 10/23 - 11/06 - 11/20 - 12/4 - 12/18 General Guidelines for the BAB Store Rides: - Safety goes first. A cycling helmet is required. If you don't have one you'll be able to purchase one at the store before we leave.
- A Safety speech will be given at 8:30 am to let all riders know the best and safer cycling habits and details about the ride of the day.
- Two guides will lead two groups of faster and slower cyclists. They'll be store employees or volunteers. They know bicycle mechanics and will try to help you in case of a flat or other emergency. However they are not responsible for your safety. You will have to sign a Responsibility Waiver Form before every ride.
- Multi Speed bikes are highly recommended as single speed bikes will have a hard time keeping up in the uphills
- Road Bikes or bikes with street tires are recommended for on pavement rides, although not mandatory. Bike Rentals are available at the store. Rental Bikes need to be picked up the day before the ride.
- Group guides will be equipped with cell phones for easy communication
- Cycling Clothing is recommendable to make the ride more comfortable
- A Basic Emergency tool kit is recommendable in case of flats or minor adjustments
- You are welcome to abandon the ride at any time but you have to let the group guides know so they don't have to look for you
- Since we meet at the store 30 minutes before leaving you'll have time to take care of any last minute need need like a helmet or a water bottle.
- Gated Parking can be provided at the store for the first 5 vehicles showing up. Also, plenty of offstreet parking available.
- Free Coffee will be provided at the store before ride starts
- Ride starts and ends at the Bay Area Bikes store. You are welcome to go somewhere else in the way back if going all the way to the store is not convenient. Just let the group guide know so we know you are safe and not missing
- What else?? Let us know what else should we add :)
Stop by for the next ride! We'll have a cup of coffee together and a lot of fun!
